Description

Our teams are dedicated to forming and maintaining long-term relationships with prospective and existing clients. The successful candidate will be comfortable and have proven experience in delivering high-level, software-led consultancy in client environments where large and complex procurements are the strategic priority. Recent examples include support to Crossrail, HS2, UK MOD and the NHS in their supplier selection, evaluation, training, criteria development and value-for-money assessment.

Main responsibilities

  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of procurement law and best practice around the sourcing and selection of suppliers, and planning and execution of supplier evaluations
  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of the procurement industry in general and be a recognised expert in the area of sourcing and evaluation of suppliers
  • Expand and maintain a network of strong relationships with senior individuals within client organisations and the procurement industry in general and, by being  well-respected (within the procurement industry) for depth of knowledge and experience, be able to influence them
  • Provide thought-leadership to clients on the issues surrounding the sourcing and selection of suppliers that can best meet a buyers’ needs and deliver value for money
  • Promote the Commerce Decisions brand through active involvement in public forums, social media (i.e. blogs, twitter) and by participating in presentation and panel membership at conferences
  • Take on a lead role in contributing to development of sales and marketing collateral and technical publications
  • Attend client sites (including occasional international travel) to provide advice and support clients in preparing for and conducting their sourcing and evaluation of potential suppliers
  • Manage client engagements without supervision, including delivery, relationships, finance, contracts, etc. as required. At this level, leading the delivery of multiple technical assignments to an exceptional standard should be par for the course.
  • Be able to manage the performance of colleagues whether as a line manager or as a project manager
  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of the AWARD software and understanding of how best to deploy and use AWARD to meet the needs of the clients
  • Be able to undertake AWARD configuration, provide training and support clients in the use of AWARD during their procurements where necessary
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with clients and lead consultancy engagements ensuring
    • We deliver effective and timely support to our clients
    • We deliver value for money to our clients
    • We control risk and escalate risks where appropriate
  • Ensure our peer review and other policies are adhered to at all times.
  • Liaise closely with the relevant Sales Account Manager(s) to win and develop business within the project and keep them informed on the status of current work
  • Work with our sales, product support and consulting teams to ensure we are providing a coherent, proactive and flexible service to our clients
  • Contribute to the development of the services team by taking a lead in mentoring and developing other staff and contributing to the development and productisation of new ideas..

A small selection of the specific activities you are likely to be involved in is provided below: 

  • Attend customer sites to undertake AWARD configuration and provide training
  • Attend customer sites to deliver professional advice on supplier selection best practices
  • Working as the Lead Consultant where required, manage engagements with clients ensuring we delivery effective and timely support, as well as value for money to our clients – while controlling and escalating risks appropriately.
  • Play an active role in the process of quality management and peer review, operating within our policies and guidance.
  • Work closely with Sales Team, at all levels, to position, develop and win new business – both organically within existing projects, and as required in developing propositions for new clients and markets.
  • Work with our sales, product support and consulting teams to ensure we are providing a coherent, proactive and flexible service to our customers.

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Have significant prior experience of supplier evaluation and the procurement industry in general
  • Have significant prior consulting experience working with senior clients and successfully leading high-value and innovative consultancy engagements
  • Be comfortable with,  and a history of, engaging with director-level contacts within the procurement industry and client organisations in order to influence them and be respected by them
  • Have a history of active involvement and presentation at public forums, conferences and on  social media
  • Have robust business and commercial acumen, allowing them to take sound decisions for the business and mentor others.

  • Have experience of using standard MS Office applications (particularly Word and Excel) and ideally some experience of using macros or VBA to solve problems.

  • Be able to secure UK secret clearance
  • Be willing and able to travel within the UK and internationally
